Dona nobis Pacem reflects on humanity’s wish for peace, compassion, and understanding. Through aleatoric techniques based on the familiar melody of William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, this piece invites both the performers and audience into a shared hope for peace.
Performed by Washington Master Chorale, which recognized Ferretti as “a rising star in the choral world.”

Deep Sea Cables

Deep Sea Cables explores Rudyard Kipling’s eerie poem about the electric telegraph’s power to connect humans in ways that had not been done before. This piece guides the listener on an audible journey into the depths of the sea using only the human voice.
Developed and performed by Ekmeles during their residency at the University of Florida, this work is suited for ensembles specializing in contemporary vocal repertoire.

Asperges Me

Asperges Me

Written during a period of personal loss, Asperges Me reflects on the experience of witnessing a loved one confront mortality and undergo a profound spiritual transformation.
Using the traditional Latin text Asperges me (“Cleanse me”), the work explores the themes of vulnerability, death, and spiritual searching.

Originally written for Delta Omicron. Inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poetry, Dawn captures the quiet anticipation of morning. Drawing from the lullabies, Ferretti creates a calming sound world reflective of Dickinson’s poem.

Vox I explores the voice as both a physical instrument and a space for collective interaction. Through open structures and flexible notation, performers engage in a continuous process of listening, reacting, and shaping the direction of the performance.

Developed with the University of Florida Contemporary Vocal Ensemble, Vox I draws on ideas of communal listening and feedback, creating a performance where each vocalist contributes to the evolving sound world of the group.

Continuing Ferretti’s exploration of collective vocal expression, Vox II examines how individual voices can merge into a larger sonic organism. Through open notation and performer interaction, the work emphasizes awareness, responsiveness, and the shared creation of musical form.

Developed through collaborative work with University of Florida vocal performers, Vox II invites performers to reconsider traditional relationships between composer, score, and performer.

A Syllable explores the space between sound and language, focusing on the physical qualities of vocal expression before meaning becomes fully formed. By isolating and transforming small elements of speech and vocal production, the work examines how the human voice communicates beyond traditional text.

Developed alongside Vox I and Vox II through work with University of Florida vocal performers, the piece highlights the relationship between performer, body, and sound.
