Set to Paul Laurence Dunbar’s poem A Hymn — After Reading “Lead, Kindly Light,” Lead, Kindly Light explores themes of guidance, uncertainty, and perseverance through moments of spiritual searching. Dunbar’s text reflects the vulnerability of navigating darkness while holding onto hope, and Ferretti’s setting highlights the emotional journey from uncertainty toward reassurance.

Through expressive vocal writing and a sensitive approach to text, the work creates a reflective space for singers and listeners alike. Lead, Kindly Light is well suited for programs exploring themes of faith, resilience, transition, and the human search for direction.

Rudyard Kipling’s “Deep Sea Cables” explores communication, isolation, and humanity’s attempt to connect across vast distances. Ferretti’s setting uses intricate vocal textures and atmospheric writing to evoke the mysterious world beneath the ocean while reflecting on the fragile connections that link people together.

Developed and performed by Ekmeles during their residency at the University of Florida, this work is suited for ensembles specializing in contemporary vocal repertoire.

Dona nobis Pacem reflects on humanity’s ongoing search for peace, compassion, and understanding. Through expansive vocal textures and moments of intimate reflection, the work invites performers and audiences into a shared meditation on hope and reconciliation.

Performed by Washington Master Chorale, who recognized Ferretti as “a rising star in the choral world.”

Originally composed for the University of Louisville Cardinal Singers, Invitation to Love explores the enduring themes of welcome, longing, and human connection found in Paul Laurence Dunbar’s poetry. Through a warm and expressive musical language, Ferretti highlights the text’s invitation to embrace love in all seasons of life.

Inspired by the resilience and endurance found in nature, The Oak explores themes of growth, memory, and connection. Ferretti’s setting emphasizes the relationship between text and vocal color, allowing the choir to embody both the strength and vulnerability of the natural world.

A Prayer explores moments of reflection, vulnerability, and hope through a contemplative choral landscape. The work invites singers and listeners into a shared space of stillness and introspection.

Written during a period of personal loss, Asperges Me reflects on the experience of witnessing a loved one confront mortality and undergo a profound spiritual transformation. The work was inspired by Ferretti’s experience witnessing her grandfather embrace religion near the end of his life, leading to a meditation on belief, renewal, and the search for peace.

Using the traditional Latin text Asperges me (“Cleanse me”), the work explores themes of renewal, vulnerability, and spiritual awakening. Through evolving vocal textures and moments of quiet reflection, Ferretti creates a musical journey that moves between uncertainty and transcendence.

Asperges Me is well suited for programs exploring themes of spirituality, remembrance, transformation, and the human experience of finding meaning.

Written for and premiered by Oldham County High School's Cantamus in 2017, then arranged for SATB choir in 2023. Also sung at the 2025 CCCC National ACDA Reading Session. 

This energetic piece for SATB choir Divisi was written for the Collegiate Chorale at the University of Louisville in 2020.
